HOME OF THE EAGLES
August 1, 2017
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Greetings and Welcome Back! Your future is our focus, and school starts on August 17, 2017. The staff at Central High School looks forward to supporting all students towards graduation as well as career/college in your chosen area of study.
On August 17th, students will meet in the cafeteria between 8:00 and 8:25 to pick up their schedules. Classes will start promptly at 8:30.
Enrollment packet: This will be passed out on the first day of school. Parents/guardians will need to fill out all necessary paperwork and return the packet with the student on Friday. Students will not receive their Chromebooks until all completed paperwork has been received.
Back to School Night: This will be on Tuesday, August 29th, from 6:00 to 7:00. Dinner will be provided in the cafeteria.
New school year: This year we have added new staff and will offer courses in Art/Floral Design, Psychology, and Soil Chemistry. Central continues to expand partnerships with our Morgan Hill community, providing volunteerism, on-campus jobs, and expanded scholarship opportunities. In addition we will continue to offer:
- Increased classes in online blended learning using the Edmentum (Plato) Programs
- Work study with the Food Service or Grounds departments
- Career Technological Certificate Programs in Arts, Media and Entertainment, and Ag and Natural Resources
- Partnering with Gavilan and Evergreen Colleges and other technical training sites for admission and career technical training
Naviance: The career portal has been expanded for parents. There will be training at the Back to School Night.
AERIES: Student attendance and academic progress parent portal — please contact the front office if you need assistance logging in. New Live Oak and Sobrato students — the password is the same.
Attendance: Attendance is critical for the success of your student, as well as a legal mandate. Please make every effort to contact us if your son or daughter will be out or leaving for an appointment.
Please come by or call if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to supporting your student in a successful school year.
